BART faces declining ridership and public safety concerns due to its poor oversight and lack of management accountability.
BART has lost its way.
By misallocating resources, BART has become a system that gives riders the lowest priority. Rider safety has become by luck, not design. Riders wade through filth in stations and on trains. Workers lack the tools and parts needed to maintain much too aged equipment. Promised new replacement train cars are being delivered months behind schedule and seem to be only available for incumbent BART Director photo ops. Worse, these delays are accepted as normal and a way to achieve the most warranty work. This is no way to run a railroad!
Voters must reform the BART board into one that PUTS RIDERS FIRST. We need an accountable, open-minded leader experienced in actually running large complex systems.
